Trying to bath a slippery and fussy infant or young child can be an absolutely nerve-wracking experience. As uncomfortable and scared as new parents might be of their screaming child kicking and thrashing about in all that water, the experience is arguably just as terrifying for the baby. Some basics tips, and the incorporation of a little fun and comfort can make the experience much better for all parties involved.

For starters, there should be an adequate but safe level of warm water in the tub or sink. Typically two to three inches of warm water is the recommended amount. Additionally, constantly pouring the warm water over the infant will ensure that they stay warm. Remember, a warm baby is usually a happier baby than a cold baby.

Also, safety is always the primary concern. Keep at least one hand on the baby at all times, and never leave a child unattended in the water, even if only for a moment. A secure grip will make a baby feel comfortable and stay safe in the tub. Supporting the infants' head and torso should be done with both the arm and hand.

Once the cleaning is all done, its time for the baby to get dried off. Just like a rubber ducky and other toys can give a sense of security to the baby while they are in the tub, and cozy tubbie can comfort the baby when they are taken out of the tub. Tubbies are not just regular towels, these towels have hoods on them to help keep baby warm as they are getting dried off. Most tubbies have cute themes and designs. Some will have a hood with decorative fabric around it to make the baby transform into a terry cloth flower. Others have animal designs, with the stuffed animal heads of lions, bear, puppies, or tigers decorating the hood of the towel. Tubbies and hooded towels make great baby shower gifts or any occasion where a gift for an infant is required.

Like most things, having a plan of action and being well-prepared can make bathing a child much more pleasant. The combination of a calm and confident parent with a steady grip, warm but not scalding water in a safe tub, toys and comforting animal friends like tubbies or hooded towels can make bath time a far less miserable experience for both the parents and their young children.
